India reiterates that any talks will resume only after Pakistan's unconditional withdrawal from Kargil. Meanwhile Indian Army continues to attack the Tiger Hill area and captures two positions in close proximity to Jubar features. The Election Commission says that Lok Sabha polls will be held as per schedule.

12/16/1867Amy Carmichael, Scotch Irish missionary, was born. She went to India in 1895 under the Zenana Missionary Society, remaining there without furlough until her death 56 years later. An invalid during her last 20 years, she worked to rescue children from the Hindus.
